*January 1: The television history in Zamboanga City was faced in network's programming and affiliation swap; as ABS-CBN's programming and affiliation moved from TV-9 to TV-3 (when the network took over their TV-3's station facilities and studios) with GMA Network's programming also swapped and moved to TV-9 (TV-9's owner that time was still owned by First United Broadcasting Corporation, before GMA were also took over their TV-9's studios and facilities – a year later). *August 27: Citynet Television (now GMA News TV) was launched by GMA Network, Inc. as forth UHF free-to-air television channel in the Philippines. *October 1 - PTV-4 launches the logo and station identification slogan "Ang Network Para sa Pilipino" part of the three-year countdown to Philippine Independence Centennial Celebration.
